CELEBRATE. REMEMBER. FIGHT BACK.®
Welcome to our second annual Global Relay for Life (GRFL) event, a fundraising initiative by the American Cancer Society. The Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society is proud to join 30 other countries globally, united by a shared vision to find a cure for cancer and support patients and their families throughout their journey.
The GRFL program provides cancer organizations worldwide with a platform to increase visibility and generate awareness about cancer. Relay For Life raises essential mission funding and strengthens volunteerism and advocacy efforts within communities.
Cancer Survivors are central to the Relay For Life movement. They embody the message that there is Life after a cancer diagnosis. Survivors are a testament to the progress made in the fight against cancer, and they are transforming the face of survivorship globally.
THE EVENT
Relay for Life will take the form of a Cricket Fete Match on Saturday, August 10th, at Skinner Park Sporting Facility San Fernando.
We will host 2 – 10 over matches. The first match will be played by players from the major cricket clubs around the country, and the winners of this match will play the second match against an All-Stars Team made up of top cricketers (past and present).
Cricket Clubs from around the country are being approached through the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board to not only participate in the matches but to encourage community
engagement and participation. The Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society values the opportunity to widen its reach and engage with communies across the country to create a greater awareness on the connection between lifestyle and cancer.
All Star Cricketers like Rayad Emrit, also a member of the Board of the TTCS and Anisa Mohammed will be leading a team of celebrity cricketers, male and female in a grand finale match against the local club players. This promises to be an exciting and fun filled event to bring people and communities together. Additionally, bringing the cricketing communities together will foster kinship and camaraderie among the members of the local cricket clubs.
Playing alongside our cricketing heroes would empower players to improve their skills, gain valuable experience, and build lasting relationships with fellow enthusiasts.
